Jewel Believed She was the Creator of Her Life

In Jewel's book Chasing Down the Dawn she writes that when she was living in the van, "... I realized that if all I focused on was limitation, then limit was what I would create. There was a whole world of possibility I had left unexplored, and now I wanted to explore it. It was like a switch in my head."

Jewel was truly bless with a mother who encouraged her to turn her ear to the subtle voice that was inside her.

What do you believe about the voice inside of you?

Do you believe it comes from an intuitive source?

Jewel made a game of manifesting. If there was something she needed she would trust that it would come. She'd get excited, picture it, fantasize about it.

What are your beliefs about manifesting?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewel_(singer)Have you ever really thought that you were able to manifest what you wanted in life?

What do you Believe about Miracles?

Do you believe that miracles can occur?

Can you remember what you were told as a small child about miracles?

Do you believe that you can ask for a miracle and it will occur?

Have you experienced a miracle in your life?

Have you been part of a miracle?

Do you think you could identify a miracle if it were to happen in your life?

What you believe about miracles makes them so.  If you don't believe in miracles, chances are you won't experience one, or you won't know that's it's happening when it does.

Do you walk around feeling that a miracle could happen at any moment?

How do You Feel About Sex?

Do you believe that God invented sex?

Do you believe that sex is part of being spiritual?

Do you believe that you can be spiritual and still have an active sex life?

Do you believe that people who have sex out of wedlock are bad people?  If so, do you believe that it is okay to place judgement on someone for the way they choose to live their life?

Do you believe that it is possible to celebrate God through sexual expression?

Chances are your beliefs about sex came into being when you were a very young child, probably around the age of 5 years old.  Can you remember what you were told?  At that age you weren't in a position to argue, so you just locked in your little new mind what you were being told as a truth and that became your belief.

But now you are older, wiser and more experienced.

Pull out those beliefs that you have been walking around with and look at all of your experiences in life.  Do those beliefs still work for you?  Or is now a good time to create new beliefs about sex?

Do You Have Secret Beliefs?

Do you believe things that you don't publicly admit?

Do you secretly believe in capital punishment but don't tell your friends or anyone that you know about your belief?

Do you secretly believe that over-weight people or less educated then slim people?

Do you secretly believe racist thoughts?

Now is the time to think about what you secretly believe, the beliefs that you share with no one.

Do you think you could live an authentic life if you secretly believed something but said something else to the people you know?

Are you afraid of communicating your secret beliefs?

If so, why?

Do you believe you will be shunned or ridiculed for your secret beliefs?

Maybe you could ask a friend about your secret belief?  Wouldn't it be wild if everyone were walking around with the same secret belief, but never told anyone?

What do you Believe about Being Spiritual?

Do you believe that being spiritual means long-suffering martyrdom?

Do you believe that being spiritual means practicing forms of spiritual extremism?

Do you believe that you could be spiritual without any spiritual rituals?

Write down your answers.

Now look at your actions in association with each of the questions.

Do your actions of being spiritual reflect those of someone who believes that being spiritual means long-suffering martyrdom?

Do your actions of being spiritual reflect those of someone who believes that being spiritual means practicing forms of spiritual extremism?

Do your actions reflect that you are spiritual without performing any spiritual rituals?

It's true "Actions speak louder than words".

Your actions are where your belief is.

Do You Believe that You are Worthy?

Do you believe that you are worthy of God's help?

You may say "yes".

Do your actions reflect your response?

Let's look at your actions; do you ask for God's help?  When was the last time you asked for his help? If you can't remember the last time you asked or aren't sure that you asked, does that mean that possibly subconsciously you believe and/or feel that you might not deserve his help?

Are you subconsciously harboring feelings of low spiritual self-worth?

If you are unsure about what you believe or feel, now is a great time to create a new belief / feeling about your deservedness of God's help.

Do You Believe in the Power of Prayer?

Think back to when you were a child. What were you told about praying?

Were you told that prayers were ways of bartering, i.e. Give me this and I'll be good.?

What kind of prayer do you believe in?

Do you believe that you can say a prayer in your own words and that it is just as powerful as a traditional prayer like The Lord's Prayer?

What have been your experiences with praying?

Do your experiences match up with what you were taught as a child?

Think about what you were taught as a child, look at your personal experience with praying and now is a great time to create new beliefs about praying.

Do You Believe in God?

Think back to when you were a child and first heard of God?

Do you remember how you felt?

Were you told that God was a horrible man who punishes us for our sins?

Were you told that God was all loving and very forgiving?

Looking at your experience in life, do you feel that what you were told about God, as a child, is what you really believe now?

If your experience has shown you something different than what you were told as a child then it is might be time for you to adjust your belief about God.

What Do You Believe Your Story Is?

We all have a story about ourselves that we tell others.  Usually it's a story we believe about ourselves.

What's your story?

When you talk about yourself what do you say?

How do you describe yourself?

Do you say that you are smart?

Do you say that your life is hard?

Write down what you believe is your story about your life.

Look at it.

Imagine that you have died.  You are floating around in the sky and you are given the story that you have written about your life.  How do you feel?

Now is a great time to rewrite your story.  Make it a good one. Make sure that when you imagine that you have died and you are reading your story, you will feel as if you had a life worth living.

Taylor Hicks Believes in the Power of Believing

In Taylor Hick's book Heart Full of Soul, Hicks writes about how former President Bush's advice to Hicks and his band was for them to stick to their beliefs and holding onto those beliefs even as they celebrity grew.

In the last chapter of his book, Hicks tells what he believes:

He believes in karma;

He believes that good things happen to good people who do good things;

Taylor Hicks tells his readers, "Believe in yourself. Believe in your soul." "If you believe in yourself, anything that comes your way - good, bad, or really ugly - can't knock you too far off track.  Believing in yourself is the thing - sometimes the only thing - that will carry you through any situation."

Taylor Hicks truly believed that he possessed what it took to be an entertainer. That belief, along with dedication and hard work, helped him become the 5th season winner of American Idol.

What Do You Believe About Overweight People?

Think back to when you were a child, the first time that you saw an overweight, large person or child. Can you remember what you thought?  Can you remember what a peer may have told you?

Whatever you thought or where told, the first time you saw anyone overweight, you locked in as a belief system.

Some examples of what you may have been told are:  overweight people are stupid, overweight people are poor and/or overweight people are not as good as you.

Do you have those same beliefs today about overweight people?

Did you create a belief because of what you were told by an adult?

Think long and hard about this one.

You can't change what you can't identify.

Today, with all the experience and wisdom that you have gathered in your lifetime, what will be your new belief about overweight people?

What Do You Believe About Yourself?

Do you believe that you are smart?

Do you believe that you are popular?

Think back to when you were about 5 years old.  What did your peers tell you about yourself? Did they tell you that you were smart?  Did they tell you that you were stupid?  Did they tell you that you would never have friends?

Whatever you were told when you were 5 years old, you locked in as a belief about yourself.  When you walk into a room with strangers your actions are driven by what you were told and believe, when you were 5 years old, about yourself.

If you were told that you are popular, when you were 5 years old, chances are when you walk into a room full of strangers you feel comfortable and ready to meet them all and make new friends.  If you were told that you weren't as good as other people, chances are you will walk into a room and stand in the back of the room. You won't feel comfortable mingling with people and you will be worried about what they are thinking of you.

Identify your belief about yourself.

What were you told, as a child, about yourself?

Do you really believe what you were told?

Look deep inside, what do you really believe about yourself? (Hint: this is where you create a new belief about yourself.  One that will serve you well in the future.)

Let's Talk About Luck

Do you believe that you are lucky?  If so, what areas of your life do you believe that you are the luckiest?

Do you believe that you are lucky regarding financial decisions?

Do you believe that you are lucky regarding career choices?

Do you believe that you are lucky regarding business decisions?

Do you believe that you are lucky in personal relationships?

If you answer "yes" to the above, write a few examples that support your belief for each of the above 4 questions.  If you are having difficulty coming up with the examples then you might want to think about whether you really believe what you claim to believe.

If you answer "no" to the above, write a few examples to support your lack of luck for each of the above 4 questions.

Sit and think about your answers.  Do you truly believe, with all your heart and soul, what you have written?  Or did you write down something that you were told a long time ago by someone else.  Is your belief a belief that has been passed down from generation to generation?

Remember - you can't change what you can't identify.

Where is Your Truth?

Very very often what people say and do are two different things.  So where is the truth?  Is the truth in what someone says or is the truth in what someone does?

Remember the saying "Action speaks louder than words." It's true!

How many times have you said, "When I see so-in-so, I am going to say blah, blah, blah." And then you see them and you don't say "Blah, blah, blah." In fact, what you do is very different than what you said you were going to do.  So did you lie when you said what you were going to do?  Not necessarily.

When we make a declaration about what we will say or do it, come from us searching the database of our left-brain.  We unconsciously go through all the information that we have seen or heard, on that particular subject, and make a declaration a to what our action will be.  However, when we act, we act from our right-brain, which is our true self.

When you know this about people you are less likely to hold their feet-to-the-fire when what they do is not in accordance with what they said they would do.

Make an Appointment with Yourself!

I was recently trying to schedule a time to Skype with a friend.  My friend indicated that he had several appointments.  So we scheduled our time around them.

While talking to my friend, he mentioned, that he had an appointment with himself.  I have never heard of anyone making an appointment with them self before.  He explained that he would make the appointment and then show up at his favorite coffee bar and work on a project that was important to him.  What a great idea!

So often we believe that it is selfish to indulge ourselves in projects that we really want to do.  Possibly that belief comes from when we were small children and we were taught that we could do what we really wanted to do (play) when all of our work was done.  We then grow up to be adults who quickly learn that all of the work is never done.  Which means we never get to play!

Now is a great time to revisit the belief that you can only do something enjoyable, and that you are passionate about, once all your work is complete.  How about looking ahead on the calendar and scheduling some important appointments with yourself?

Sounds like a wonderful idea!

Crystals 101

To really appreciate a crystal you must know how they come about.

Crystals were created when the earth was formed.  As our planet changes they continue to change. Crystals are like the rings of an old oak tree.  A lot of information is recorded in those rings as well as crystals.

Some crystals have been grown in caves underground, some where laid down in layers, some were exposed to enormous pressure and other have been dripped into being. How the crystals came about affects their properties and their function.   Whatever form they take, their structures can absorb, conserve, focus and emit energy, especially on the electromagnetic waveband.

Crystals are of great value and everything from telecommunications to watches makes use of them.

If you have never worked with crystals and are a bit weary, then why not pick up one and put it in your hand.  Close your eyes and concentrate on what is in your hand.  How does it feel?  Is it cold, hot, warm or tingle?  Does it feel is if it is vibrating?

Using stones to heal has been around since prehistoric times.  The stones have not lost their powers. People have moved away from a natural way of living with our planet.

When picking a crystal always pick the one that you feel drawn to.  Trust your intuition!

Ken Jennings is a Believer!

Ken Jennings, the greatest champion in Jeopardy! history, believed without a shadow of doubt in his souls calling.

I just finished reading his book "Brainiac" Adventures in the Curious, Competitive Compulsive World of Trivia Buffs.

On page 185 Ken writes, "Jeopardy! is the first time in my life I ever dreamed an improbable dream and did something about it. It's out of character for me. And yet somehow, the fourth-down gamble paid off. Here I stand, doing something I'm good at for a change - and the rewards have been hundreds of times greater than those for any of the safe, practical, responsible choices I'd spend the rest of my life making."

Like Wow! Think about it... are you one of those people are who doing what you think you are suppose to be doing? Are you playing it safe, instead of following what you truly believe in your heart you should be doing?

Ken Jennings was playing it safe for as long as he could being an unhappy software programmer. Until he just had to go for it and pursue his dream of being on Jeopardy!

Here's a great story to tell of the rewards of following your passion.

What Do You Actually Believe?

Now's the time to begin thinking about what you actually believe about everything that is in or around your life.

You can't fix what you can't identify!

Most of us locked in beliefs around the age of 5 years old.  This was most likely the first time that we learned about rich people, poor people, over-weight people, money, the weather, etc.

At around the age of 5 years old you saw or heard something and locked in a belief.  You subconsciously live your life with that belief being the determining factor about what kind of life you will live.

The good news is that you can pull forth those beliefs, examine them and decide if you would like to change your belief about something that is in or around your life.

In most cases, beliefs are like family heirlooms past down from generation to generation.  For example, your Mom may have believed that rain with thunder and lightning was "bad" weather; weather to be feared; weather that could ruin your day and/or change your mood.  When you were a small child you may have heard your mother refer to the rain as "bad weather".  You locked it your subconscious and every day it rains you are predestined to have a bad day, a ruined day or a down mood day.  So where did your Mother's belief in rain being bad come from?  Chances are it came from her Mom and when she was a child around the age of 5 years old, she heard her mother refer to a day of rain as "bad weather".  And where did your Grandmother get this belief from?  Chances are she got it from her mother. Can you see the pattern?

We are grown adults and now is a wonderful time to clean out the belief closet and only store beliefs that are beneficial to you.
